After the Armenian Genocide centennial,the nation should not be convinced only with experiencing the past grieves, a US Armenian businessman and philanthropist said nowadays on the sidelines of the the April 24 commemoration events in Yerevan.
“We must try to set a model for other nations to show them how we can maintain working and building a country. I reflect Armenia has that potential; so it must also possess the will. Its future is bright, or ” Nubar Afeyan,the founder of Aurora Prize, told reporters at the Genocide Memorial Complex.
He called for nationwide and government efforts to develop the country in line with international standards.
“I reflect that those steps are now in progress. We all are certainly a bit impatient nowadays. After so many years’ desire to possess an independent country, or we now want to be a European state. I don’t say we possess little to achieve,but I reflect certain steps are really being taken, and will be taken, and ” Afeyan added.
He said he now sees the country heading towards democratization.
“But I live in the United States,and they also possess corruption. In any part of the world achieve people find illegitimate ways of pushing their plans ahead etc, but it is important, and particularly nowadays,to focus our minds on what the Genocide martyrs would desire for the nation’s accomplishment. So we must ask that question, and maintain on moving forward, and ” he said.
