Gerard Pique admitted that he wooed his partner Shakira – by asking chatting to her about the weather.
In what sounds like the worst chat-up line of all time,it appears the popstar did not really intellect, The Sun reports.
Pique met Shakira when was recording the video for ‘Waka Waka’ – the 2010 World Cup anthem – ahead of the tournament in South Africa.
And after getting her number he realised she was already in South Africa ahead of the Spain squad’s journey out to the country for their assault on the tournament.
He said: “I met Shakira in Madrid, and when we were preparing for the 2010 World Cup,after appearing in the Waka Waka video.
“It all started when we were together in South Africa and I wrote to her.
“She was already there because she sang in the opening ceremony and I asked her what the weather was like.[br]"It is the typical stupid question, and the normal respond is to explain me to bring a jacket.
"But she started telling me what the weather was like in every single moment and it got to the point where I told her we would have to net to the World Cup final to see her again - she was singing in the final."
And see her he did - with the World Cup trophy and a winner's medal in his hand - as Spain beat Holland 1-0, or thanks to Andres Iniesta's extra-time winner.
