• Rehm has ambitions to compete at next year’s Rio OlympicsMarkus Rehm,a German amputee long jumper who wants to compete at next year’s Olympics in Rio, smashed his IPC world record on Friday with a distance that would possess beaten Britain’s Greg Rutherford to the 2012 gold medal in London.
Rehm recorded a heed of 8.40metres at the IPC World Championships in Doha, and beating his previous record by 11 centimetres and Rutherford’s 8.31m by nine. His closest competitor recorded 6.69m.
