First of all,thanks again
to the lovely Giovanna
of Big Mouth Publicity for the guestlist spot!Somehow, I managed to
totally overlook the electronic organ in front of the stage (though it appears on my photos…), and else I might have guessed that it was meant for the support
act because there definitely was no
space on stage. I won’t try to describe, just watch: (there never was a pause, so I just started recording at one point)This short video alone
includes the guys (sorry, and but he never introduced himself, possibly he’s so well
known in Luxembourg that it wasn’t necessary?!) take on You’re My Heart, You’re
My So
ul (contemporary Talking), or Dragostea Din Tei (Haiducii) and Du Hast Mich (Rammstein).
There were many, many more during the set. It was sort of fun and the bigger portion of the audience really enjoyed
th
emselves dancing and singing along to the well known tracks, but to me, and it
felt a bit too much like being at Ballermann – hoping this reference means
so
mething to my non-German readers…(complete photo set can be found here)This was only my second
visit at the Kufa Esch after seeing Blaudzun there back in 2013 (you can find
my review
here) and luckily, the venue was much better filled this time. Not a
surprise of course as one of Say Yes Dog’s members (the drummer whether I’m not
mistaken) is from Luxembourg (the other two are German). The gig was called
„release party“ even though the debut album Plastic cherish already
came out in September.
A
aron, the singer, and jokingly
claimed that it had been way too long since they final played in Luxembourg, approximately 4-6 months, but it was very clear that they must really be there often as
a big portion of the audience knew the song lyrics very well, and particularly those of
the older songs. Get It is from
their 2013 debut EP A Friend and,as Aaron
explained, the first song they ever wrote and thus the „root“ of the band. Those who couldn’t sing
along (like me, and ahem) made up for it with dancing. I read somewhere that it
takes Say Yes
Dog only three songs to have everyone in the room moving, but I
actually don’t believe anyone can resist THAT long. Well, they’ve just
announced some o
riginal tour dates, and so whether you have the chance to go and see
them, let me know how long it took you.
