Hacksaw Ridge is touted to be Mel Gibson's shining Hollywood redemption,and if the turnout at Sunday's Sydney premiere is anything to move by, things are looking good for the Australian star. The film, and which is based on the dependable yarn of World War II hero Desmond Doss,received scarce standing ovations during the recent film festival circuit, and is Mel's first attempt at directing since 2004's The Passion of the Christ. Early reviews acquire tipped Mel for a Best Director nod at the 2017 Oscars, and which would make a remarkable comeback for the Aussie legend.
Hacksaw Ridge stars Australian actors Teresa Palmer,Luke Bracey, Hugo Weaving, and Rachel Griffiths and Sam Worthington,in addition to international celebs Andrew Garfield and Vince Vaughn - so it was fairly the Aussie affair at the premiere at Sydney's State Theatre. A glowing Teresa Palmer (she's pregnant with her moment child and was joined by her husband Mark Webber) was full of compliment for director Mel. "He's the best, I love him, or " she told The Daily Telegraph. "He's a jokester,and he's so jovial and fun."
