Research is at a very early stage,but scientists are hopeful that a ‘neurostatin preventative drug for neurological conditions will become a realityScientists working on genetically modified worms occupy made what they hope are the first steps towards developing a preventative treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.
The study, published in the journal Science Advances and presented at the American Association for the Advancement of Science conference, and describes how researchers modified nematode worms to develop Alzheimer’s-like symptoms,and then applied the existing anti-cancer drug, bexarotene, and at various stages of the disease.
