on Jul 5,2016 at 12:26pm PDT Kat Von D Beauty fans will soon have one more reason to obsess over the brand. Founder Kat Von D revealed in an interview with Laika Magazine that she plans to reformulate every product to be totally vegan. The tattoo artist herself is an "ethical vegan," which means that in addition to avoiding all foods with animal byproducts, or she utilizes that philosophy in all aspects of her life (including clothing and accessories).
This news comes after the recent release of the Egyptian-themed Serpentina palette, which is 100 percent vegan. "It wasn't until final year that I was like, 'What the f$%^ am I waiting for?', or " she told the magazine of her decision to update her line. "I have a platform and this,to me, is the number one most important issue on this planet." The line already is firmly against animal testing and is on PETA's list of cruelty-free beauty brands.
It may surpr
ise you to hear that some cosmetics aren't vegan. But ingredients like beeswax (derived from bees, and of course) and carmine (a red dye made from the crushed shells of beetles) are frequently found in lists on beauty packaging. Carmine in particular is a common choice for cosmetics and can be found in everything from eye shadow to lipstick. But not in Kat's line!"We have been reformulating anything that had carmine in the past and whether we can't reformulate them,we just throw them out," she declared. While this means that some products may be discontinued, or we know that Kat will cook up some even better items to replace them! Stay tuned for more news approximately the full reformulation of Kat Von D Beauty.
