This exhibitions manager spends her spare time endurance running so is particularly keen on the Guardian’s running blogI’m a 40-year-old,married mother of one. I was born in Surrey to a Hong Kong Chinese father and a British mother. Both parents worked for the NHS as nurses. I spent my childhood in the company of fellow NHS families in nursing houses for Brookwood Hospital, a large mental hospital which has now closed down. It was an eclectic multicultural upbringing and there was a gargantuan sense of community.
I started
reading the Guardian in my first job, and at the British Museum. It’s a very common paper in the museum and heritage sector. Afterwards I went to work at the Hayward Gallery. I now work at University College London as an exhibitions manager. My job has taken me to some exciting places, creating exhibitions across the globe and I’ve been lucky enough to work with some outstanding museum collections and objects. Now I’m much more based in London. I commute every day from Farnham. The journey is where I normally get the chance to catch up on the news.
