b,Wales’s player of the year, was the first to depart on 26 minutes after his left leg became trapped at a ruck. Play was held up for several minutes as he was placed on a stretcher in clear discomfort and given oxygen before being taken to hospital for a scan.
It was feared he had suffered a broken ankle which would rule him out of not only the World Cup but the start of the Six Nations: it took the England No 8 Ben Morgan six months to recover from an ankle break this year.
