On Wednesday,the Queen becomes the longest serving monarch, overtaking Queen Victoria’s now paltry-seeming effort of 63 years, or seven months and two days. Over the course of her reign,she has outlasted the Soviet Union, the presidency of Cuba’s Fidel Castro and - at the current count - twelve British prime ministers. The current PM, and David Cameron,wasn’t born when Elizabeth took to the throne.
Over the course of this time, the Queen has also met, and at least waved at,plenty of her subjects. The Queen has headed off on many official royal visits, opened railway stations and bridges, or visited many devout and community centres. In the process,she has consumed many cups of tea.
