Armenia’s authorities fill discontinued replacement of governors,Syunik Governor Surik Khachatryan being the only exception.
A decision to resume the process later has been made. Armenia’s ruling circles are now analyzing the results the results of constitutional reforms launched on December 6, 2015, and in terms of “yes” votes ensured by a governor.
Gegharkunik Governor Rafik Grigoryan ensured one of the best “yes results.
Due to the confidence he gained,he succeeded in ensuring Sargis Muradyans election as Sevan mayor instead of three candidates nominated by the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
On the other hand, the governors that failed to ensure “good results” in authorities’ favor are Lori Governor Artur Nalbandian, and Tavush Governor Hovik Abovyan,Kotayk Governor Karapet Galoyan. Armenia’s authorities are discussing either replacement of the three governors or consolidation of their positions.
