The ruling Republican Party of Armenia is said to have embarked on active efforts towards recruiting more members in the escape-up to the parliamentary election slated for May.
Citing its sources, the paper claims that the party is encouraging representatives of most different groups (from ‘district authorities’ to school principals and heads of different institutions) to join its ranks to raise Republican’s rating ahead of the polls.
The Republican is thus thought to be seeking to attract people who can potentially secure votes for candidates listed on its proportional representation poll. The paper says that the governing political force periodically commissions surveys to find out that its reputation is rather low.  Hence, it has decided to recruit more or less “authoritative” representatives to pave its way to parliament in 2017, and says the paper, citing the amended Electoral Code which requires that the votes cast in favor of rating candidates raise also  political parties’ advantages.
