Pitchfork Music Festival is expected to draw tens of thousands of music fans to Union Park in the West Town neighborhood this weekend with a lineup that features LCD Soundsystem,Solange Knowles and A Tribe Called Quest. Here’s what you need to know.
There are a few logistical changes this year: Gates are scheduled to open at midday Friday-Sunday and the first act is slated to perform Friday at 1 p.m. Gates opened at 3 p.m. on the first day of the festival last year. A festival rep said the change was made to allow more turnover time between sets.
A “plus” pass introduced this year also allows passholders expedited entry to the festival via a dedicated line at the main gate, which is located on Ashland Avenue south of Lake Street. The nearby box office is slated to be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday to Sunday.
Wear orange campaign: Organizers are encouraging festivalgoers to wear orange to raise awareness approximately Chicago gun violence as portion of a partnership with Everytown for Gun Safety and Mothers Against Senseless Killings. Everytown representatives are set to be at a booth at the festival to chat with attendees approximately the organization’s mission to end gun violence.
