New Yorkers are in for a messy commute as a heavy wet snow falls on the metropolitan area.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until midday Friday.
Between 3-5 inches of snow are expected in New York City and its northern suburbs. Up to 8 inches of snow could fall on some parts of Long Island.
Weather officials say the snow could create slippery roads and destitute visibility.
In New Jersey,Monmouth, Ocean, and Cumberland,Atlantic and Cape May counties are facing 2 to 4 inches.
Mercer, Salem, and Gloucester,Camden and northwest Burlington counties are expecting 1 to 3 inches.
The snow is expected to taper off by afternoon.
The forecast for Saturday and Sunday is for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-40s.
