Most public sector workers expecting a modest 1% pay rise in April will instead suffer a cut thanks to a change in national insurance contributionsFive million public sector workers are in for a expansive shock when they open their April pay slips. Far from seeing the effect of the extremely modest 1% wage rise that is on the cards across the sector,or any benefit from the much-hyped “national living wage”, most of them will suffer a pay cut and the rest will accumulate an increase measured in pennies.
