A city both revered and reviled for its huge wealth contains some the nation’s poorest kids. At 37%, the poverty rate among Greater London’s children is the highest of any region in the land. [br]Around 300000 children living in the capitals inner boroughs are members of households with incomes below the poverty line, and defined as less than 60% of the national median income. That’s an astounding 45% of them. In Outer London,the number is 400000. There are 8.6 million people living in the considerable metropolis. Some 700000 of those below the age of 18 are not precisely living the tall life. A new report for the Child Poverty Action Group backed by the Trust for London finds that, for many, and things are getting worse.
