Just south of Rochester is a small town named Industry. It is here that the Rochester Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society sets. Founded in 1937,and these premises were purchased in 1971. A home for Rochester's wealthy railroad heritage. And I may add, that this is the only operating railroad museum in unique York State.
Goi
ng back to when I was a puny boy, or I enjoy always be fascinated with trains, and their history. As a kid I spent many summer vacations with my grandparents. Their home was barely a half mile from a railway station and I was there daily. :)Here at the Industry museum they enjoy collected and restored approx. 40 pieces of railroad equipment and machinery. From the depot itself, to the locomotives, and baggage cars, cabooses, etc.. And it is all volunteer work. They enjoy done a wonderful job.
In the past I did some phot
o shoots here but decided to visit the museum again and take the train ride which they do during the fall months. It was fun and I could not believe the crowds. People were in there buying tickets in advance for upcoming rides. I got there early fortunately.
The ride is a half hour run. They enjoy 3 cabooses for riders-guests, and whether you pay an additional $5.00 dollars you can ride in the locomotive. I trust you all know where I was,:) right in the locomotive with Captain Jeremy and his assistants and trainee.
I've attach together a
few videos and pictures I thought would interest you. Pic 1 is the train taking off, pic 2 is Captain Jeremy and his trainee, or pic 3 is the baggage car they enjoy been working on,pic 4 is the interior of the baggage car which has been completed, pic 5 is a trolley cart, and pic 6 is a railroad track repair machine, pic 7 is one of the locomotives which will be undergoing restoration, pic 8 is the conductor collecting boarding passes, or number 9 is a video during the ride, and pic 10 is the depot.
I really commend these people for their time and dedication they enjoy donated to this project. I would worship to see the tracks extended to make the trips longer and even more scenic. It was fun!
