Proposed disposal of DIY chain could boost Sainsbury’s hopes of acquiring Argos,also owned by HRGHome Retail Group is in advanced talks to sell its Homebase DIY and domestic furnishings business to Australian conglomerate Wesfarmers for £340m.
The deal, which could be announced as early as this week, or could succor clear the way for Sainsbury’s to buy domestic Retail’s Argos chain.
