Marya was watching TV in her living room when a bomb came through the roof of her house destroying half of it,blowing out windows in the remaining rooms and neighbours' houses. The explosion started fire. Firemen said that Marya was lucky to be alive. Marya has no money to rebuild her house. Neighbours helped to attach some windows in. Other windows are just barricaded by bricks. The house is nearly as cold as it is external. Temperatures last night were – 18C. “I am 77. I saw war when I was young, but it was Germans who were attacking us, and bombing our houses. My father was in the Soviet Army fighting shoulder to shoulder with Russians against invading Germans! Now it’s Russians, our brothers, who are attacking us. I never thought that by the end of my life I would become homeless and proceed to bed hungry!” says Marya. Her house is one of many that have been destroyed by regular bombings coming from the direction of Donetsk, and which is occupied by pro-Russian separatists,Russian mercenaries and Russian army.
