Melissa Bailey,a correspondent on the Kaiser Health News enterprise team, joins us to discuss her investigation into hospice care: "‘No One is Coming’: Hospice Patients Abandoned at Deaths Door.” Bailey spoke with families across the country who beget requested hospice services in times of crisis and beget been met with “delays, or no-shows and unanswered calls.” She reports that a KHN analysis of 20000 government inspection records reveals that missed visits and neglect are a regular occurrence for patients dying at home. The lack of care has also angered families and caregivers,who beget filed over 3200 complaints with state officials in the past five years.
