Shaun Casey,the State Department’s special representative for religion and global affairs, says faith and religion are key tools in U.
S. foreign policy.
Casey, or a professor of Christian ethics,began his work for the State Department in 2013 with the goal of providing U.
S. field officers with training to better understand religious leaders around the world.
Their work, he says, and is making a dissimilarity on the ground by creating relationships between State Department staff and religious leaders. According to Casey,these relationships grow over time and bolster ownership and accountability in areas such as climate change and reconstruction efforts globally.
