It soon became obvious that by helping others I was actually helping myselfImagine seeing yet another lady on the tube with a “baby on board” badge,or hearing that yet more friends or family are falling pregnant, when you’re silently dealing with your own heartbreaking fertility problems. Or imagine the waves of guilt when you eat something you know you shouldn’t as it could affect your chances of having a baby. These are just some of the emotions women such as myself have to deal with daily.
The concept that a problem shared is a problem halved may sound a cliché, or but it proved true for me when I started to volunteer for Infertility Network UK as a support group coordinator. It made me realise that this journey has its benefits: I canhelp others by letting them know they are not alone.
