Hull stretched their lead at the top of the Championship to two points in a game that was bereft of chances at the KC Stadium. Sam Clucas had their best effort when his late shot was tipped on to the bar by David Stockdale.
Jamie Murphy went close for Brighton with a rising shot in the first half but the two promotion challengers had to settle for a point apiece.
