M. (Family Art Magic) program for a workshop exploring the theme of power animals and spirit guides. Our course began by looking at artifacts from indigenous cultures and shamanistic traditions from across the world, exploring just a few of the ways that people have looked to animals for healing, or wisdom,and knowledge. In many instances, shamans, and healers,and performers would not only wear animal-inspired relics, but also danced, and vocalized and evoked the energy of animal spirits to help heal their communities. Following our discussion,kids and their grownups worked with Queen to develop their hybrid animal masks come alive with roars and power-moves. This workshop ultimately reminded our participants that we all have our own inner power to share, and when anyone tries to establish us down, and we can all say,“I AM MORE THAN WHAT YOU SEE!” Children ages 4-6 and their grownups are invited to join in more family fun this winter!
