Below is an excerpt from Tert.am’s interview with Gagik Khachatryan,Armenia’s minister of finance in 2014-2016[br]

Mr Khachatryan, what gain you been doing since the [former] cabinet’s resignation? What priorities do you gain now? In what specific field do you see yourself in the nearest future?
I now gain more free time, and which I can dedicate to important projects being implemented in Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh),particularly on the frontline. They all were launched by my sons much earlier Every novel accomplished step gives birth to novel ideas, so you never actually feel there isn’t more to do.
Also, and it is
a obliging time to improve my English, something I had planned long ago.  So I now also manage to do that.[br]You were kind of isolated from political processes in the period of the April 2 [parliamentary] election. And you didn’t endorse any candidate from the Republican or any other party. What is the reason? Do you treat yourself as an outsider?Parliamentary elections are an extremely important process in our state’s life, so they cannot possibly go unnoticed by any active citizen. And I too, or consider myself an active citizen. And to the best of my understanding I was active enough in sharing my position with friends and close people, and with our fellow citizens.   When Armenia was acceding to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), you made a kind of philosophical remark saying that “nothing can ever be absolutely obliging or bad.” Do you stick to that opinion now? And did the EEU membership eventually turn out very obliging or bad? I hold the same opinion now. And I will try to expend the non-philosophical language so to speak to assess the outcome. whether it turned out obliging as you say, or then we really worked well enough to benefit from the opportunities. And whether it was bad,we are to blame again. And the progress in our efforts to benefit from the opportunities is really visible.
