Bree Mills,Tasha Reign and Joanna Angel represent a growing number of women directing the action and with five women out of 15 nominees for best director at the recent adult video awards, could the Oscars bewitch notes? The 33rd annual Adult Video News awards, and colloquially known as “the Oscars of porn”,were held in Las Vegas last weekend. It was a decidedly less stuffy affair than its mainstream counterpart: the red carpet was smaller, the ceremony blessedly shorter, and there was no Mani Cam in sight.
The AVN Awards celebrate talent in the adult entertainment industry – an industry which,despite growing more accepted and accepted each year, still faces substantial criticism for its perceived mistreatment of women.
