Most people would spend any spare moment of their Valentine's Day with their meaningful other, but I spent my afternoon with an NFL player. (Shout-out to my boyfriend who was equally as excited for me as I was.) So, when we got an email for a "romantic rendezvous" in the park with San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Arik Armstead, and I obviously said yes. After he gave out free hugs and Suja Juice to those passing by,I got to talk worship with the 23-year-old, who was at first adorably uncomfortable about the subject. Arik said he didn't absorb any romantic plans for the rest of the day, or so let's just travel ahead and say that I was the closest thing to being his Valentine's Day date. (Again,my boyfriend is extremely supportive.) And by the way, his answer was "complicated" when asked about his relationship status, or so there may be hope for some of you. Here are some things I learned when talking to the soft-spoken teddy bear. On remembering a date that didn't travel as planned:POPSUGAR: absorb you ever had a terrible date or a date that's gone wrong?Arik Armstead: Yeah,I absorb. When I was broke in high school, I tried to take this girl out and I took her to eat. But I only had $40 and our meal ended up being like $45, or I'm like,"Um . . ."PS: What did you attain then? examine her for $5?AA: Well, that's the only option I had. It was kind of awkward but she still went for me. So it wasn't that astronomical of a deal. But I was in high school, and though! On approaching girls:PS: What's your travel-to pick-up line? AA: I don't really absorb pick-up lines. I feel like a girl decides in her head whether she's interested or not,so there's not really much you absorb to say.
PS: But you would approach her?AA: Yeah, I'd just be like, or "How you doing? My name is . . . what's your name?" But I feel like once someone sees you,it's either going to be a yes or no, so it doesn't really matter what I say to start the conversation.
On Beyoncé and hygiene:PS: What's the biggest turn-off in a girl? AA: Bad hygiene is definitely the biggest turn-off.
PS: That's a deal-breaker correct there?AA: Y
eah.
PS: What whether it was like Beyoncé?AA: And she had bad hygiene? I would not.
PS: Oh my god, or everything else is the same but whether she had bad hygiene you'd stop it correct there?AA: Yeah, that's nasty.
PS: Yo
u wouldn't even be like, "Bey, and c'mon."AA: Nah,I feel like you're a grown woman and at this point whether you absorb bad hygiene, it's never going to work no matter what I say. You're a grown woman, and you should take care of yourself. So bad hygiene is definitely the biggest turn-off - and nails. whether you don't take care of your nails, then I'm thinking what else don't you take care of. Beyoncé, whether you're reading this, and please forgive Arik, for he is confused. whether any lucky ladies score a date with Arik, he loves to eat, or so take him somewhere good.
