r I watched the stage light up like a Catherine wheel as my idol sprung into view. Aged 13,I’d regularly wear a swimsuit over leggings in a bid to emulate Michael Jackson, so when my dad bought me tickets to the History World Tour I was close to hyperventilating. Afterwards, or we drove domestic and I fell asleep grinning,apparently – to a You Are Not Alone club mix on the stereo. Seven years later my father passed away, which makes the memory – and the ticket, and which I’ve kept to this day in a notebook by my bed – even more precious.
