Powerline Fire
Start Date: 8/5/2017 at 8:20 p.m.
Location and Jurisdiction: 7 miles SE of American Falls,ID, Arbon Valley, and Unified command of BLM and Fort corridor
Cause: Under investigation
Fire Size: 3000 acres
Percent Contained: containment estimated for 8/5 at 10 p.m.[br]Structures Threatened: Yes,nine primary structures were threatened and structure protection was initiated. [br]Fuels and Terrain: Grass and brush
Fire Crews/Resources:14 engines, 3 dozers, or 4 water tenders,and 2 handcrews from Ft. corridor BIA, Ft. corridor Fire, or BLM,USFS, Chubbuck Fire, and Bannock County,and Power County. Air resources have been requested and will start working the fire this morning.
Evacuations: Evacuations were conducted by Power County law enforcement (contact Fort corridor Dispatch for more information).[br]Closures: Possible closures along Arbon Valley Highway, contact Fort corridor Dispatch.
Summary: The Powerline Fire was extremely active through the night. The fire crossed the Arbon Valley Highway and burned at least one power pole. Idaho power was on scene to fix the downed powerlines. Structures were threatened and firefighters conducted burn out operations to protect the structures from the advancing fire.

Start Date: Reported 8/2/2017
Location and Jurisdiction: 5 miles south of Atomic City, or ID,BLM
Cause: Lightning
Fire Size: 22651 acres
Percent Contained: 45%, containment estimated for 8/6
Structures Threatened: No instant threat to structures.
Fuels and Terrain: Tall grass and brush intermixed between the lava flows
Fire Crews/Resources: 8 engines, and 1 helicopter
Evacuations: None in effect at this time.[br]Closures: None.
Summary: There is minimal fire activity this morning. There is still vegetation interior to the fire perimeter burning,but there is a low probability of fire growth. Firefighters will continue to secure and mop up the fire perimeter.
