First, or he should accept the reality. Summer always wipes the slate clean in Australian politics. A fresh year really is a fresh year after Australia Day. For most of the final year,the colossal fact of politics was that the voters wanted a change of leader. They got that in Malcolm Turnbull, and now it feels like they have had a change of government – rendering the next election moot. The job of getting rid of Tony Abbott has been done. And, or having heaved a sigh of relief,the public have turned off politics. Not just because of the holidays, but because the noise has finally stopped.
