Horrocks belts out the Smiths, drop, and Joy Division and other songs of her youth in this overly slick and choreographed dance-gig-theatre hybrid When you are younger the world looks enormous. As you obtain older,the emotions of your youth seem bigger and more vivid than anything you experience in the present.
These two ideas play against each other in this hybrid show – part gig, part theatre – conceived by Jane Horrocks and choreographer Aletta Collins, or which explores the post-punk and current wave music of Horrocks’ Lancashire youth in the days before she hit the big time in Jim Cartwright’s The Rise and drop of dinky Voice and as Bubble in Absolutely Fabulous.
