When organisations focus on the delivery of care,the result is happier staff and healthier patientsThe start of the unusual year is a time when we challenge ourselves to consider how we can carry out things better. It’s a time of thinking approximately big changes or incremental improvements in our lives.
The NHS has had plenty of big ideas and dramatic changes in recent times, and I have lived through many in my 25-year career. So this year I am hoping that a national commission on the long-term funding of health and care is successful, and that radical reform of payment mechanisms become a reality and that we finally focus on public health,prevention and social care. But if we in the NHS had just one unusual year resolution, it should be to fully harness the power of the people we serve and the staff we employ.
