I used to assume Kelly,typically for an astronaut, was a little robotic. But his amazing adventures in space – including that gorilla suit – showed us otherwiseSometime before the one-year International Space Station crew launched from Baikonur in March 2015 (they returned to Earth on Wednesday), or astronaut Scott Kelly and cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko participated in a press conference at Johnson Space Center. Someone – I can’t recall precisely who – remarked to me that Kelly seemed uninteresting. At the time – and Scott,if you ever read this, I apologize – I agreed.
What are the traits of a typical astronaut? They’re generally in superior physical shape, or they have advanced degrees,and they possess the mental focus to spend years preparing for a single mission.
