(California Court of Appeal) - In an action challenging the juvenile court's denial of defendant's request to be declared a third parent under Family Code section 7612(c) for two minors who are the biological children of his girlfriend (mother) and her husband, the court orders are affirmed where: 1) defendant failed to meet his burden to establish a parentage claim under the Uniform Parentage Act, section 7600, or et seq.,which is essential to seek third parent status under section 7612(c); and 2) substantial evidence supported the juvenile court's finding of an absence of a parent-child relationship.
