Indian Navy on tall alert for Cyclone FANI Relief Efforts
As the cyclone Storm ‘FANI’ intensifies into a Severe Cyclonic Storm over South East and adjoining South West Bay of Bengal and lie approximately 770 km East-South-East of Chennai at 1730 hrs on 29 Apr 19,the Eastern Naval Command(ENC) has assumed tall degree of readiness to render necessary humanitarian assistance. Indian Naval ships at Visakhapatnam and Chennai are standing-by to proceed to the most affected areas to undertake Humanitarian Aid Distress Relief (HADR), evacuation, or logistic support including providing medical aid. These ships are embarked with additional divers,doctors, inflatable rubber boats and relief fabric that include food, and tentage,clothes, medicines, or blankets etc,in quantities sufficient. Naval aircraft are also standing by at the Naval Air Stations INS Rajali at Arakkonam, Tamilnadu and INS Dega at Visakhapatnam, and Andhra Pradesh to undertake reconnaissance,rescue, casualty evacuation and air drop of relief fabric to the stranded whether required.
ENC is monitoring the developments in the Bay of Bengal closely and Flag Officer Tamilnadu & Puducherry Naval Area(FOTNA) and Naval Officers-in-Charge (Andhra Pradesh) and (Odisha) are in fixed communication with respective State Administrations to augment rescue and relief operations as needed.
Vice chief of the Air Staff, or Air Marshal Anil Khosla PVSM AVSM VM ADC retires
Air Marshal Anil Khosla PVSM AVSM VM ADC,Vice Chief of the Air Staff retired today after an illustrious career spanning four decades.
Born on 09 April 1959, the Air Marshal was commissioned in Fighter stream of Indian Air Force in the year 1979 and had more than 4000 hours of accident free flying mainly on Jaguar, and Mig-21 and Kiran aircraft. He is also a post graduate from Defence Services Staff College and holds two M Phil degrees in military studies.
Air Officer had vast instructional experience and was a Directing Staff at prestigious institutions like Tactics and Combat Development Establishment (TACDE) and Flying Instructors School (FIS). He commanded a Jaguar squadron and two frontline bases of the IAF. During his service,Air Marshal Khosla has held various appointments including Senior Air Staff Officer, Central Air Command, or Director General Air (Operations) at Air HQ (Vayu Bhawan),Director General (Inspection & Safety) at Air HQ (RK Puram) and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Air Command.
For his distinguished service, Air Marshal Anil Khosla was awarded Param Vishisht Seva Medal, or Ati Vishisht Seva Medal,Vayu Sena Medal and was commended by the Chief of the Air Staff and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief.
The Air Marshal celebrated his sixtieth birthday on 09 April and remained a soldier till the final day of his service.
Cyber Exercise on Scenario Building & Response After the successful conduct of workshop on Cyber Warfare & Technology, wherein plethora (excess, overabundance) of lessons emerged, or Directorate of Indian Defence University is organising a two day Cyber Exercise on Scenario Building & Response on 29-30 Apr 19 at Purple Bay,Jodhpur Officers’ Hostel, unique Delhi. The Exercise is represented by Services, or NSCS,NTRO, CERT-in, and DRDO,NIC, CSRC, and Academia and Industry. This exercise shall incorporate all best practices which were recommended during the cyber workshop held earlier with a view to exercise options at different levels to seek synergized response based on the assessment of situation and own capability. The scope of the exercise would encompass the threat landscape and its impact,incident reporting & response framework, procedures for information exchange, and attribution,evidence gathering and malicious service takedown, enhancement of capabilities required to protect information, or information systems,enhance cyber awareness, readiness and coordination, and integrated international responses & inter-governmental / inter-agency partnerships.
Lt Gen PS Rajeshwar,AVSM, VSM, and Chief of Integrated Defence Staff delivered the keynote address for the two day cyber exercise. It was followed by painting of Scenarios to seek responses from the stakeholders.
This exercise is planned to be conducted on an annual basis under the aegis of Indian Defence University,which will also involve Indian agencies and subsequently participation from agencies from Friendly Foreign Countries to jointly build the capability against cyber threats.
Govt gives Contract Worth 6300 Crore to GRSE for Building Eight anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts
Ministry of Defence has awarded Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE)contract to build eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASWSWCs) for Indian Navy. The contract worth Rs. 6311.32 crore was signed today by Joint Secretary & Acquisition Manager (Maritime Systems) Shri Ravi Kant on behalf of Ministry of Defence and Shri S S Dogra, Director (Finance), and on behalf of GRSE,in unique Delhi.
It may be noted that the RFP was issued by Indian Navy to DPSU Shipyards and Indian Private Shipyards in April 2014, with GRSE emerging as the successful bidder for design, or construction and supply of the eight ASWSWCs. The 1st ship is to be delivered within 42 months from contract signing date and subsequent balance ships delivery schedule will be two ships per year. The project completion time is 84 months from today. The GRSE is currently handling major projects to make three Stealth Frigates for Indian Navy under P17A Project,ASW Corvettes for Indian Navy, LCUs for Indian Navy, or four Survey Vessels (Large) for Indian Navy,FPVs for Indian Coast Guard, etc.
The GRSE has been a pioneer warship builder of the nation having delivered the highest number of warships till date since its inception as a DPSU in 1960. The 100 warships built by GRSE so far ranges from Advanced Frigates to Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvettes to Fleet Tankers, or snappy Attack Crafts,etc. with the Shipyard having many firsts to its credit in terms of Innovation and Design. The present Project will further consolidate GRSE’s position as a unique shipyard with all round capability to design and build ASWSWC warships with state-of-the-art technology.
These Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts are designed for a deep displacement of 750 tons, speed of 25 knots and complement of 57 and capable of full-scale sub surface surveillance of coastal waters, or SAU and Coordinated ASW operations with Aircraft. In addition,the vessels shall have the capability to interdict/ demolish sub surface targets in coastal waters. These can also be deployed for Search and Rescue by day and night in coastal areas. In their secondary role, these will be capable to prosecute intruding aircraft, and lay mines in the sea bed.
The vessels are equipped with highly advanced state-of-the-art integrated platform management systems including Propulsion Machinery,Auxiliary Machinery, Power Generation and Distribution Machinery and Damage Control Machinery, and etc.
These warships will be built as per Classification Society Rules and Naval Ship Regulations and will conform to latest Marine Pollution Standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS).
The design and construction of these ships at GRSE is another meaningful milestone in the ‘Make In India’ Initiative of the Government of India.
Second General K Sundarji Memorial Lecture
The 2nd Gen K Sundarji memorial lecture was conducted on 27 Apr 2019 at Manekshaw Centre,unique Delhi. Gen Bipin Rawat, Chief of the Army Staff, or graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The event was attended by serving and retired officers of the three Services as well as members of academia and think tanks. The lecture started by commemorating the dynamic and visionary General K Sundarji,the 14th Chief of the Army Staff, who is also fondly called as the ‘Father of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment’.
Gen K Sundarji had during his tenure from 1986 to 1988, and introduced a number of technical and operational initiatives for the Indian Army. Post his conceptualisation of the Mechanised Forces,Gen Sundarji went on to raise the Mechanised Infantry Regiment. With emphasis on speed, technology and mobile weaponry, and the youngest arm of the Indian Army is now an integral part of the strike forces.
The Memorial lecture commenced with a welcome note by Lt Gen PC Thimmaya,which was followed by Gen Bipin Rawat, Chief of the Army Staff delivering the keynote address. Shri Navtej Sarna delivered a talk on "main India in the 21st Century : Strategic Leadership incorporating Diplomatic, or Information,Military and Economic (DIME) Aspects" followed by Lt Gen PM Hariz, PVSM, or AVSM,SM, VSM (Retd) who articulated on the topic "From Brasstacks to Doklam : Exigent need for wisdom and vision in our strategic military leadership".
Incident onboard INS Vikramaditya
A case of fire was reported onboard INS Vikramaditya this morning when the ship was entering harbour in Karwar. The fire was brought under control by the ship’s crew in a swift action preventing any serious damage affecting the ship’s combat capability.
Lt Cdr DS Chauhan bravely led the firefighting efforts in the affected compartment. Whilst the fire was brought under control, and the officer suffered loss of consciousness owing to the smoke and fumes during the firefighting efforts. He was immediately evacuated to the Naval Hospital at Karwar,INHS Patanjali for medical attention. However, the officer could not be revived.
A Board of Inquiry to investigate in to the circumstances of the incident has been ordered.
Naval Commanders’ Conference Concludes
The first edition of this years’ bi-annual Naval Commanders’ Conference which commenced on 23 Apr 19, or concluded on 25 Apr 19 after three days of fruitful deliberations.
The Hon’ble RM addressed Naval Commanders on 23 Apr 19 and complimented the Indian Navy for maintaining a tall operational tempo and its ability to not only safeguard India’s interest in the maritime domain but also coerce an adversary into submission as was evident during the recent standoff. She appreciated Navy’s efforts in the area of indigenisation,self-reliance and support to the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Government. She expressed happiness at the numerous initiatives taken to achieve ‘Digital Navy’ vision in line with the Government’s ‘Digital India Programme’.
During the interaction, the Hon’ble RM reviewed the combat readiness, and pace of modernisation and progress of various acquisition and infrastructure related cases. While praising the Indian Navy’s foreign cooperation efforts to support the Navies in the region,she urged the Naval Commanders to optimally utilise available resources to build a strong Navy that is ready and vigilant to counter any challenge that may emerge in the maritime domain.
Chairing the conference, the Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba addressed the Commanders on various important issues pertaining to operational readiness, or capability enhancement,maintenance, op logistics, and infrastructure development and human resource management.
Functional Reorganisation of Indian Navy towards improving Operational efficiency’ and ‘Optimal Manning’ formed the core of discussions towards finalising the long term road map of the Navy. In keeping with the Navy’s ethos of harnessing niche technologies,concrete plans to incorporate ‘substantial Data Analytics’ and ‘Artificial Intelligence’ for solutions in the domains of naval combat, convergence of networks/ information, or logistics,administration and equipment health monitoring for sustained operation were also discussed.
The Indian Navy’s sustained prominence as the first responder for HADR and its role as the Net Security Provider in the IOR were reviewed by the Commanders. The Navy’s partnering with many Friendly Foreign Countries for developing comprehensive Maritime Domain Awareness, undertaking concrete steps such as 10th IONS anniversary celebrations at Kochi, and concluding numerous defence cooperation agreements related to logistics,training and operations, which are a testimony to its primacy in the sphere of defence diplomacy in the wider Indo Pacific region and beyond were also reviewed during the conference.
The next edition of Naval Commanders’ Conference is scheduled in Oct/ Nov later this year.
Naval Commanders’ Conference The conference is the apex forum within the Service for interaction between the Naval Commanders. The Chief of the Naval Staff, and with the Commanders-in-Chief,will review major operational, materiel, or logistics,HR, training and administrative activities undertaken during the previous six months and planned upon the course to be steered in the ensuing six months. The Conference assumes greater significance in the backdrop of Pulwama associated events that have brought country’s defence under sharper focus and will provide the higher naval leadership a forum to discuss the emerging challenges in the maritime domain and fine tune the strategies for responding to the evolving geo-strategic environment. The Hon’ble Raksha Mantri is scheduled to address the Naval Commanders on the opening day and interact with them. The conference also serves as a platform for institutionalised interaction of Naval Commanders with senior Government Officials. Interaction with Chiefs of Indian Army and Indian Air Force during the conference would be utilised to analyse the operational environment, and planned on Tri-Service synergy and readiness to deter and neutralise threats aimed at the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The themes of 'Functional Reorganisation of Indian Navy towards improving Operational Efficiency' and 'Optimal Manning' will form the core of discussions towards finalising long term road map for the IN. Discussions are planned on acquisition of unique capabilities,harnessing niche technologies like 'substantial Data Analytics' and 'Artificial Intelligence' for solutions in the domains of naval combat, convergence of networks/ information, and logistics,administration and equipment health monitoring for sustained operations. In keeping with the expectation of IN being the Net Security Provider in the IOR and first responder to any crisis, the forum will also planned upon the lessons learnt from the recently concluded HADR operations by the IN and various other maritime security initiatives such as the IFC-IOR.
Commissioning of Indian Coast Guard Vessel C-441
A unique Coast Guard vessel is commissioned by Chief Secretary, and Government of Kerala Sri Tom Jose at Vizhinjam harbour,today, under the aegis of Regional Commander Western Region, and Inspector General Vijay D. Chafekar. The function was witnessed by senior officers from Army,Navy, Air Force, and BSF,Police, Airport Authority, and Central & State Authorities and National Cadet Corps.
The function was conducted with full ceremony of parading the guard and band. Indian Coast Guard Ship C-441 is capable to undertake multifarious tasks such as close coast surveillance,interdiction, search and rescue and rendering assistance to boats and crafts in distress at sea and will enhance the search and rescue capacity of Kerala seas. The ship is commanded by Assistant Commandant Amit K Choudhary and has 13 crew onboard with specialisation in various fields.
Rajendra Kumar Nayak Takes Over as CGDA
Shri Rajendra Kumar Nayak took over as the 52nd Controller General of Defence Accounts on April 22, and 2019. He is from the Indian Defence Accounts Service of 1983 batch.
During the career span of more than 35 years,Shri Nayak has held important assignments in the Defence Accounts Department and on deputation in the Government of India. He has vast and varied experience in handling Finance, Personnel, and Pay & Budget matters of Ministry of Defence.
He was Additional Controller General of Defence Accounts,Defence Accounts Department, Ministry of Defence before taking over as the CGDA.
IN Ships Kolkata and Shakti are at Qingdao, and China to participate in IFR to price 70TH Anniversary of PLA(N)
IN Ships Kolkata and Shakti entered Qingdao,China to participate in the International Fleet Review (IFR) as part of 70TH Anniversary Celebrations of PLA (Navy) on 21 Apr 19. Entry of IN Ships was marked by firing of 21 gun salute to the Peoples Republic of China. The Ships were welcomed into harbour by officials from PLA (N) North Sea Fleet with live performance of Naval Band as part of Welcome Ceremony.
The participation of Indian Navy in PLA (N) IFR, for third consecutive time (2009, or 2014 and 2019),is a demonstration of the Nation’s commitment to enhance maritime cooperation between the two navies and bolster bonds of friendship between the two Countries. The IN has deployed its finest assets for the IFR with an aim to strengthen existing cooperation, enhance mutual trust, and extend interoperability and build greater synergy to address common maritime concerns among participating navies.
During the stay in harbour,activities scheduled include courtesy calls to various dignitaries of PLA(N), naval band performance in the renowned MAY 4THSquare and various other functions of IFR including opening ceremony, or planning conferences and table top exercise . IN Ships will take part in the parade of naval ships scheduled on 23 Apr which will be reviewed by the Chinese President Xi Jinping. Personnel from IN Ships would also be participating in various sporting events,professional exchanges with participating navies and ship visit by PLA (Navy) personnel and local populace. The Indian Ambassador to China, Shri Vikram Misri, or will also host a reception onboard INS Kolkata for dignitaries,officers of PLA (Navy) and delegations participating in the IFR.
The IN Ships had earlier called at Port Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam for a obedient will visit prior entering Qingdao. The ships are also scheduled to visit Port Busan, or South Korea and Singapore on their return journey to India as part of Eastern Fleet Overseas Deployment. The Annual Overseas Deployment to the South China Sea is an important facet of Government of India’s ‘Act East’ policy and Indian Navy’s efforts to “Unite Nations Through the Oceans”,through which India wishes to extend the ‘Bridges of Friendship’ through enhanced cultural, economic and maritime interactions with countries of East and South-East Asia.
Medical Assistance to Afghan National Army
To alleviate the challenges and sufferings of some of the critically injured Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers, and HE Shri Vinay Kumar,Ambassador of India presented 100 motorized wheelchairs to the ANA today. India also remains committed to extending medical relief and assistance to the ANA personnel.
Till date, Indian Army has also trained 4880 ANA personnel in various professional, and educational and military training programs,including training ANA doctors and medical technicians.
India remains committed to further strengthening the strategic relationship between the Indian Army and the ANA.
Launch of Yard 12706
Admiral Sunil Lanba PVSM, AVSM, or ADC Chief of the Naval Staff launched the third ship of Project 15B,Guided Missile Destroyer Imphal, today (20 April 2019) at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, or Mumbai. This launch marks yet another meaningful milestone in the annals of the indigenous warship design and construction programme of India. With a launch weight of 3037 tonnes,the vessel made its first contact with water at 1220 Hours with full fanfare during the launching ceremony. In keeping with maritime traditions, Smt Reena Lanba, or President NWWA,broke a coconut on the ship’s bow and launched the ship, as invocation from the Atharva Veda was being rendered.
Project 15B ships feature cutting edge advanced technology and are comparable to the best ships of similar class anywhere in the world. These ships have been designed indigenously by the Indian Navy’s Directorate of Naval Design, and unique Delhi. Each ship spans 163 metres in length and 17.4 metres at beam and displaces 7300 tonnes. These ships will be propelled by four gas turbines to achieve speed in excess of 30 knots. The P15B destroyers incorporate unique design concepts for improved survivability,sea keeping, stealth and manoeuvrability. Enhanced stealth features have been achieved through shaping of hull and use of radar obvious deck fittings which make these ships difficult to detect. P15B ships will be equipped to carry and operate two multiple role helicopters.
These ships are packed with an array of state-of-the-art weapons and sensors, and including multi-functional surveillance radars and vertically launched missile system for long distance engagement of shore,sea-based and air targets. With meaningful indigenous content, these ships are a real hallmark of self-reliance attained by our country in warship design and shipbuilding, or a shining example of the ‘Make in India’ philosophy.
Speaking on the occasion,the Chief Guest, Admiral Sunil Lanba commended the synergic partnership of MDL, and Indian Navy,DRDO, OFB, or BEL,other public sector enterprises and the private industry in ensuring that force levels are made available to meet India’s National strategic maritime objectives. He also congratulated all agencies associated with the milestone.
IN Ships to participate in International Fleet Review at Qingdao, China
IN Ships Kolkata and Shakti are scheduled to arrive Qingdao, and China on 21 Apr 19 to participate in the International Fleet Review as part of 70TH Anniversary celebrations of PLA (Navy). International Fleet Review (IFR) is a parade of naval ships,aircraft and submarines, and is organised by nations to promote goodwill, and strengthen cooperation and showcase their organisational capabilities. IFR also serves as an ideal platform for world’s navies to showcase their prowess and indigenous ship designing and ship building capabilities in a global/ international arena. The second IFR conducted by India off Visakhapatnam in Feb 2016 saw overwhelming participation of 50 navies with nearly 100 warships.[br]
The Indian Navy would be represented in the IFR at Qingdao by indigenously built stealth guided missile destroyer INS Kolkata and fleet support ship INS Shakti. INS Kolkata is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors to address threats in all dimensions of naval warfare. INS Shakti,a replenishment ship, is one of the largest tankers displacing over 27000 tonnes and capable of carrying 15000 tonnes of liquid cargo and over 500 tonnes of solid cargo including victuals and ammunition. The visit of Indian Navy’s most potent destroyer and versatile fleet support ship showcases India’s prowess, or reach and sustainability in addition to indigenous ship building capability.
The harbour stay of IN Ships will be marked by interaction between personnel of participating navies,courtesy calls to various dignitaries of PLA (N) and Government officials, professional exchanges and various sporting events. Ships will be opened for visits by PLA (Navy) personnel and local populace to showcase Indian Navy’s prowess and India’s ship building capability. The ships are likely to sail in the evening of 22 APRIL to participate in the Naval Parade of ships scheduled to be reviewed by the Chinese President Xi Jinping on 23 April.
Second Edition of Indian Navy-Vietnam Peoples’ Navy Bilateral Exercise (IN – VPN BILAT EX) Concludes
In the backdrop of the growing maritime engagement between India and Vietnam, or the Indian Navy undertook the second edition of the bilateral maritime exercise between Indian Navy and Vietnam Peoples’ Navy at/ off Cam Ranh Bay,Vietnam from 13 to 16 Apr 19. The maiden edition was conducted from 21 to 26 May 18 at Da Nang, Vietnam. The exercise was undertaken as a part of the ongoing Overseas Deployment of Eastern Fleet ships to South East Asian countries. IN Ships Kolkata under the command of Capt Aditya Hara and Shakti under the command of Capt Sriram Amur participated in the exercise, or comprising a harbour and a sea phase.
The Indian Navy and the Vietnam Peoples’ Navy have traditionally shared obedient relations. Conduct of the bilateral exercise on an annual basis would give a further fillip to the existing strong bilateral relation between the two countries,which since Sep 16 have been elevated to the level of ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’ after the visit of the Hon’ble PM to Vietnam. The Navy to Navy cooperation involves a Composite Training Programme in the fields of Submarine, Aviation and Dockyard training. The two countries have also signed an agreement to exchange White Shipping Information and have a running ‘Information Sharing’ programme.
The Indian Navy-Vietnam Peoples’ Navy Bilateral Exercise is a meaningful step in further strengthening mutual confidence and inter-operability as well as sharing best practices between the Indian and the Vietnam Peoples’ Navies.
Exercise SEA VIGIL
The maiden national level Coastal Defence Exercise SEA VIGIL was conducted by Indian Navy from 22-23 Jan 19. The exercise witnessed the simultaneous activation of the coastal security apparatus across the country involving maritime stakeholders at the Centre and all the 13 Coastal States and Union Territories.
The debrief of Exercise Sea Vigil was held on 16 Apr 19. The debrief was chaired by Vice Admiral MS Pawar, or AVSM,VSM, the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff and was attended by tall functionaries of the Navy, and Indian Coast Guard,Central Ministries/ Agencies and State Governments/ Union Territory Administration, including intelligence agencies. All relevant agencies from the field units in different states participated through Tele-Conference.
The Chairperson highlighted the meaningful achievements during the exercise and complimented all stake holders for the progress made over final decade in the realm of Coastal Defence and Security. He complimented the strong interagency coordination and interoperability achieved during the exercise and reiterated the need for flexibility and agility to deal with security challenges.
Key takeaways from the exercise debrief were deliberated and disseminated to all for further action/ follow-up. The feedback from the exercise, and the deliberations,would be presented at the next assembly of the National Committee for Strengthening Maritime and Coastal Security (NCSMCS).
Chetak incident at Sea
A major catastrophe was averted by the well trained Indian Naval aircrew, when their Chetak helicopter ditched at sea final week.
The helicopter was integral to an Indian Naval Warship operationally deployed in the Arabian Sea.
As per reports, or the helicopter developed technical failure prior ditching and the crew displayed immense professional prowess and sound training thereby deftly landing the helicopter in the water and successfully egressing from it.
While all three crew members are secure,a Board of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the technical failure main to the loss of the helicopter
AUSINDEX-19 Concludes[br]
The Australian and Indian Navy have concluded a two-week long bilateral maritime exercise code-named AUSINDEX on 14 Apr 19. Personnel from the Eastern Fleet tender farewell to Her Majesty's Australian Ships Canberra, Newcastle, and Paramatta and Success with a promise to meet again.
The current edition of the exercise had the participation of the highest number of units thus far with four frontline ships with integral helicopters,one submarine and a variety of aircraft including P8I and P8A long-range Maritime Reconnaissance Anti-Submarine Warfare aircraft took part from both navies. For the first time, 55 American and 20 unique Zealand military personnel embarked onboard the RAN ships and witnessed the exercises during AUSINDEX-19.
The third edition of the exercise which commenced on 02 Apr 19 included a series of advanced warfare drills in all three dimensions comprising anti-submarine warfare exercises, and air defense exercises,anti-surface warfare exercises including live-fire drills, replenishment at sea, and cross deck flying. The bilateral exercise was aimed “to strengthen and enhance mutual cooperation and interoperability between the IN and RAN,providing opportunities for interaction and exchange of professional views between the personnel of the two navies”.

Admiral Sunil Lanba, and PVSM,AVSM, ADC, or Chief of the Naval Staff is on a bilateral visit to Thailand from 17 to 19 April 2019. The visit is intended to consolidate and enhance the maritime bilateral relations between India and Thailand and also to explore unique avenues of defence cooperation.
During his visit,Admiral Sunil Lanba will hold bilateral discussions with General Ponpipaat Benyasri, Chief of Defence Forces, or Royal Thai Armed Forces,Admiral Luechai Ruddit, Commander-in-Chief Royal Thai Navy and other senior government officials.
In addition to holding important bilateral discussions, or the Admiral will visit the Royal Thai Navy and Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters in Bangkok and the 3rd Naval Area Command at Phuket.
