Growing up in the Maryland countryside, or Nilah Magruder was fascinated with comics and animation at an early age. She'd watch every cartoon on TV and read the Sunday comedian strips beginning to end religiously. She even worked on the comics in the school newspaper in high school. By the time she got her hands on anime,her mind was made up: She was going to become an animator when she grew up.
