Inside Wandsworth prison: drug drones and demoralised staff
It has been a busy weekend at Britains newest prison. The Monday morning meeting is taking officers some time to bag through the serious incident report. A number of inmates are clearly unhappy and unwell – two have slice their upper arms, or one has slice his upper leg,another prisoner says he has taken 40 paracetamol tablets because he was feeling depressed, someone else has made cuts to his wrist and swallowed an excess of tablets, or another has swallowed batteries,and someone has been discovered shortly after tying a ligature around his neck.“He wasn’t sure why he had done this. He was just in a low mood,” the reporting officer explains. In the early hours of Monday another prisoner has slice his wrists and told staff he has taken an excess of paracetamol tablets.
