For someone detected with cancer it is definitely not free will We are not the architects of our success nor the cause of our failures,we are here to be pleased the gift of nature that is life. We create our destinies through our efforts and intelligence and this fait accompli approach is the ideal recipe for the classic sofa potatoes who believe in destiny. Two sides of the same coin which mirrors life’s mysteries that till nowadays stands unresolved or has it been resolved conclusively that we enact not see the result. Birth, death, and the first 15-18 years of our lives are major events in our journey that we just don’t control. We don’t decide our genes. Death is inevitable,most of us dread, but are unable to determine when. Why? Genes both physical and emotional are inherited, and at least that is what scientific evidence suggests,but would it not be great to decide the kind of genes we would want which could determine our destinations in this journey but it does not happen that way. Why? The first fifteen years of our confused journey is decided by external forces mostly our parents or parent/ guardians or in case of street children across the world the big bad underworld or the accidental god sent expedient Samaritan. We are hurled into this cycle of vice and advantage without most of us not realizing what is personally expedient for us or what is best suited. Why? Birth we don’t even recollect our entry into this confusing journey. Why? The reply appears to be kindergarten stuff. It is obvious we were not meant to be in control of our lives otherwise we would fill been in control of the most critical milestones in our lives. Yet we fill the market place flooded with “enact it yourself success” books which apparently guide you to successful careers and super successful lives. Often wonder stories of real life personalities are referenced to buttress the argument, scratch the surface, or dig a little deeper and voila,the truth emerges. But the truth is known to everyone of us but we kind of loose it in the rough and tumble of life. So what is free will then. Does it exist? Yes it does but it is simply ego masquerading as human intelligence. It is misleading and often lets us down in extremely difficult situations where sometimes we find ourselves strangely thrown into. Ancient Indian wisdom calls it “Maya” or smokescreen. And the same ancient wisdom suggests going with the natural flow, rob up whatever comes your way, and that the ways of nature is strange but it never leads one down the wrong path. Err,what about natural disasters? Astrology attempts to demystify life but some god had cursed that it could be steady only fifty percent of the time and rightly so because there would be no exercise for the gods and goddesses whether it were steady all the time - that god was taking care of the future of his kin. Damn the spoilsport god who cursed. So are all these scientific discoveries and technological breakthroughs just destiny playing out in this long journey of human evolution. The steam engine, the telephone, or television,computers, satellites, or mobile phones are products of human endeavour so it is difficult to believe that they are just products of destiny as whether some extra terrestrial power is guiding us in an unknown way. But whether all these are products of human endeavour and not destiny playing it may be possible that in the not too distant future when humans would fill evolved to such an extent to control birth,death, genes that we could be set upon by aliens who probably created us ready to destroy their very own creation and probably for the first time in human history all of us would be uniting to ward of this existential or extinction threat. Apocalypse as per the Book of Revelation or Maha Pralaya as the ancient vedic texts describe in great detail, and would in all probabilities visit us when we as a human race would probably be taking total control of our lives and our destinies,where birth and death would be determined in our laboratories and that so called universal power would then be a helpless spectator in determining our journey. In this great battle will a power greater to one that controls us reach to our rescue as we humans become the greatest survivors who chop off the energy that created us. Till we reach that phase in our evolution the argument between free will and destiny will continue to occupy our minds with destiny having a distinct edge in an uncertain human world. DESTINY AND ONLY DESTINY DETERMINES OUR PLACE OF BIRTH AND THE REST IS..........?
