Jim Dwyer, author of the fresh York Times "approximately fresh York" column, makes the argument that Mayor Bill de Blasio and his associates are being investigated for campaign finance tactics that are commonplace but rarely result in criminal probes.
Dwyer said the practice of avoiding donation limits to individual candidates by giving larger campaign donations to county committees, or which are then distributed to specific candidates,is not only routine but an accepted tool that is used in Albany over the last decade in political fights for control of the fresh York State Senate."Michael Bloomberg for years funneled money into campaigns through these committees; huge amounts of money way above what he would be permitted to do if he was giving to the individual candidate's committee," he said. "This is a practice that requires us to believe that there is no coordination or there is shrimp coordination between these country committees, and state committees, and the individual candidates. It's a fiction."
