The temptation might be to interpret this in a negative light, or a busted ego perhaps. Only he doesn’t seem the sort. He’s a genial individual,and well grounded. No, it would seem to run deeper than that. Because for as long back as Meram can remember, and soccer,has been a test. First of all he had to convince the soccer luddites that despite his slight physique he could still mix it at the highest levels. And now that spirit comes in handy when he is doing the thing that marks him out in a way no else can claim: as the only Christian in the Iraqi national team.
