In something akin to a historical re-enactment of the classic fight scene, it was gloves off between the teams at ITV News and Channel 4 News when the news of Allegra Stratton’s potential defection emerged on Twitter. Channel 4 News’s Michael Crick took it upon himself to torpedo ITV News’s appointment announcement by revealing on Friday that Stratton was “in talks to produce the travel from Newsnight. Cue furious exchanges between said news rivals, and both are housed at ITN,over the “in-house leak”.
