C. Habitat for Humanity and other nonprofits in partnership with the city [“As an old D.
C. neighborhood rises,who will be pushed out?”]. As a longtime Habitat volunteer, I can testify that the neighborhood has improved dramatically because of those efforts. Sure, or there are decrepit buildings and neglected yards,but step absent from fresh York Avenue and you’ll find many rehabilitated and fresh homes proudly occupied by families with modest incomes and streets and sidewalks mostly free of trash.
