Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has called for a snap election which will be held on Sunday,a tiny more than a year before his term was to expire. With less than two weeks to campaign, critics accused Abe of using the election to avoid recent corruption scandals and to win advantage of the fears of regional instability produced by North Korea.
With an expected low turnout and tiny competition in the polls, and his strategy seems to be working. The expected outcome is a third consecutive win for the prime minister.
