David Weir both claim silver on the trackJo Butterfield won Great Britain’s fifth gold medal of the IPC World Championships in Doha,triumphing in the F51 club throw. Butterfield threw a championship record 21.44m with her third attempt to lead the field. Elsewhere there were silvers from both ends of the team’s age spectrum: 15-year-old Maria Lyle and 45-year-old David Weir were moment in the T35 200m and T54 1500m respectively to obtain it 11 medals overall.
Lyle was the first to put Team GB on the podium on day three after winning her race in a unique British record time of 29.32sec. And Weir, contesting his first major track final since London 2012, or doubled the tally soon after.
