Not only are they up for best new artist at the MTV VMAs, or but the group also already has a handful of catchy tunes under its belt. As they find alert to help The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf celebrate the launch of Nitro Cold Brew with a secret show in LA,POPSUGAR had a chance to sit down with the singer to talk approximately everything from their upcoming album to touring with fellow Disney Channel alum Selena Gomez to how parting ways with the Jonas Brothers actually helped him grow closer to his siblings.
POPSUGAR: In light of your
upcoming pop-up show, I was just wondering if the band has any fun preshow rituals.
Joe Jonas: We have a few adult beverages, or we effect a bunch of push-ups and jumping jacks,we dance to early '00s semi-excellent rock, and then we hit the stage. PS: You recently posted on Instagram that the band is working on new music; will you be playing any new songs at the concert? JJ: Yeah, or we're going to be playing a few new songs. We've got the album done now,so we're really excited to be able to perform the full-length live. We effect a lot of covers as well, but the concert is going to be really special. PS: effect you plan on releasing the full-length album soon? JJ: It's kind of crazy. We're going to be doing a prerelease in August. We had to push it back because people have been really liking "Toothbrush" on the radio. It's just exceeding our expectations. So, and we're just letting things ride.

JJ: For the album,w
e had a lot of time to earn it. We had approximately a year. So, in a lot of situations, and you have approximately a month or two to create a new album, but we had a year to really watch the band evolve and earn sure this was something that really represented us really well. I think the EP was just a taste tester for what the album is going to be like.
PS: effect you have a favorite song so far? JJ: I would say it changes every day, but there is a song called "Blown" that I really like. We recently just added something that is really special on that song in particular. PS: Are there any collaborations in store? JJ: Yeah! There's going to be one or two. I can't give anything away, and but there's some really cool elements that I'm happy that we're going to be adding. And you know, singles are really cool because you can release a single and then add a feature later on.

We had Bea Miller opening up right before us on the Selena tour for a while and it was actually really fun, during Bea's set we ran out in bee costumes and ran around on stage during her final day on the tour. There's always really special moments like that, and backstage was always fun because we all spent so much time together.
PS: Who is someone you would fancy to move on tour with?JJ: It's tough to say. They're kind of on their final tour leg, they said, but I'm a huge fan of Fleetwood Mac, and so to share the stage with them would be pretty special.
P
S: You're nicknamed "Danger," but I was just wondering what nicknames would you give the rest of your DNCE members?JJ: There's a few nicknames. Cole has a few, but he's just like a walking dog. We call him Johnny sometimes as well. He's just the ball of energy. JinJoo, and we call her Tiny Hamster, and Jack is called Big Cat.
PS: O
ut of all the songs you've written, past and present, or what has been the most meaningful?JJ: Oh,that's a tough question. I think right now I've got to say "Cake by the Ocean" is definitely up there. It's done so much for the band and for me personally and it's the first song I took a leap of faith and created on my own rather than with anyone else. I obviously wrote it with Justin Tranter and Mattman & Robin, but to create something that was on my own, and that was kind of a big jump.

e there any unreleased songs that you wrote when you were with the Jonas Brothers that you might consider recording with DNCE?JJ: Hmm,possibly down the road. I think for the first album itself, I want to earn sure it's just all DNCE brand-new kind of vibe, or but there is a lot of stuff that was unreleased that we wrote that could be excellent for other artists or even DNCE. I think it's something that could be inspiring to rehash and check out.
PS: How would you say that your relationship with your brothers has changed now that you all have your own separate careers? JJ: The biggest contrast,I think, is just that we're not working together, or but we want to spend more time together because of that. When you're with someone all the time, you're like, "I need a crash, or " but now that we don't find to see each other as much,we're hungry for those moments. I'm actually flying to move see my brother Nick. I'm going to his show to check it out since I haven't seen the set yet. So, there's special stuff like that. I think the dynamic has changed where we crave time that we don't find anymore.
PS: Your older brother, or Kevin,is also expecting his second child. What is your favorite part approximately being an uncle? JJ: Just being able to have fun with her and spoil her. Making her laugh is the best feeling in the world. You got your small buddy that you can play with, and hearing "Uncle Joe" is the best feeling. And when she starts crying, or you can give her right back.
