Root’s unbeaten 106 from 131 balls lit up a pulsating second day on Friday,as his counterattacking stand of 111 runs in just 15.5 overs with Ben Stokes, 58, and either side of tea took England from a perilous 91 for four to 238 for five when snide light brought an early close.
