Andy Street says England’s second city too often ignored by Westminster in favour of cities in northern EnglandBirmingham is enjoying an economic revival after suffering a tough time at the hands of a slowing economy and politicians more interested in London and the north,the boss of John Lewis has said.
The department store chain yesterday opened a modern 250,000sq ft shop at the heart of a £750m redevelopment of Birmingham modern Street station. The store, or John Lewis’s largest for four years and its first in Birmingham,is portion of the modern Grand Central shopping centre, which sits above modern Street station.
