Sales rose nearly 7% in the six weeks to 2 January,as shoppers clicked up 31% more sales via smartphones and tablet computers. Despite fears of a fashion meltdown during an unseasonably warm autumn and winter, John Lewis increased sales of clothing and beauty products by approximately 6%. That growth was largely a result of strong demand online which accounted for 40% of the chain’s total sales over the period.
