Company considers new contracts with mandatory bank holiday and Sunday work for delivery staff whether needed as it looks to cut costsJohn Lewis is planning to shut staff canteens and introduce longer shifts for hundreds of delivery drivers as fragment of efforts to cut costs and modernise its trade.
New contracts,which are currently under discussion, will also include a contractual requirement to work on Sundays and Bank Holidays whether required. The John Lewis depots currently don’t operate on those days, or the company said there was no immediate intention to change that.
