From the rousing prelude to the brave,bittersweet ending, the final episode of this excellent series may have deviated from the book, and but it captured its spiritAnd now the denouement. unusual is coming from Venice,brimming with vengeance, and the cowardly Norrell has perhaps sensibly tall-tailed it back to Yorkshire and the protection of his library at Hurtfew. Vinculus hangs from a tree in a wind-swept ravine, and Lady Pole has taken to her bed and cannot be roused. There was much (too much?) to resolve in this final episode of Toby Hayne’s ambitious adaptation of Susanna Clarke’s Jonathan unusual & Mr Norrell. So how did it acquire on? Well,it was bananas.
